Revell of Germany announce a pair of interesting road cars.
Trabant 601S Universal 25 Jahre Mauerfall
#80-2014 LIMITED EDITION!

The Trabant, produced by former East Germany automaker VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau gained importance as a vehicle for the masses in Soviet bloc nations. The 601 is the third and most-built model in the line. Mass production of the 3-door car began in 1965. This vehicle had body panels made of Duroplast and was powered by an air-cooled 2-cylinder 2-stroke 600cc engine. The lowly Trabant has achieved cult status and unexpectedly has become a collectible auto in recent times. One exceptionally rare Trabant was created in October 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of German reunification. Artists from the Leipzig Graffiti Association decorated the car with scenes depicting the Fall of the Wall. This roadworthy art was auctioned off in October 2014 to benefit the German Children's Cancer Aid charity.

VW Golf 1 Cabriolet
# 80-7071

Introduced in 1974 the Golf stood in stark contrast to its predecessor, the VW Beetle. The angular shaped motor car had a water-cooled front engine and was front-wheel drive. The convertible was introduced 5 years later. The car became very popular across the world. Produced by the Karmann company in Osnabrόck, the workmanship was held in very high regard. The 70 and 110 bhp engines were sufficiently powerful. In production for 14 years, 389,000 units left the production line.
