DER MASS:STAB Modellfahrzeug-Magazin. Issue 5/Oktober 2012 is now available, full of interesting and detailed models and stories for autumn.
TITELSTORY / COVER STORY
Mehr Als Ein Facelifting: die Neuen MAN (More Than a Face Lift: the New MAN): MAN’s TGX and TGS Evolution heavy trucks. Updated TGX and TGS Evolution trucks are shown in their glory with descriptions of their refinements. These are developed as a semi and as rigid trucks, both offering multiple axle configurations and other modular options. Herpa is creating models of the many configurations.
NEUHEITEN / NEWS
The new series of Mercedes-Benz Antos are debuted. Additionally, an amazing collection of new models are showcased in their news section displaying innovations we will be seeing in November and December: Herpa airbrushes; varieties of specialized trailers, fire trucks, a police cars, small civil vehicles, construction trucks, special edition Christmas and Advent items, and a special edition custom Scania tractor. Also included are scheduled re-releases of Minitanks old and new, including Russian and NVA ZIL and UAZ vans and trucks, plus a ZIL 157 tanker fire truck.
REPORTAGE / REPORTING 1. Men At Work – The New Herpa Showtruck . Der besondere Finnen-Truck (The Special Finn Truck). Six pages showcasing the Herpa release of the Rami Tynjälä Transport Scania R TL Gigaliner “Hell Cat” special tipping semi-truck with custom airbrushed artwork. The truck owner describes the vehicle of this interesting rolling mural. This second Herpa model of the Finnish forwarder captivates with its very elaborately designed cab and is item 301299.
2. Riesenschnauzer (Giant ). A photo expose of a preserved IFA G5 TLF East German Firetruck . This model is the subject of a review here at RailroadModeling.
SAMMELN / COLLECTION. Profile of Tausend Räder and his extensive miniatures collection.
3. Genie Mit Rostbraunem Makel (Genie With Rust Brown Stain ). Alfa Romeo cars of the 1970s.
UMBAU / CONVERSIONS a. Decalkunst (Decal Art ): Modeler Holm Kämpfer displays his excellent custom decaled trucks .
b. Wenn Es Nacht Wird In HO (If It’s Night In HO). Modeler Ulrich Heyer shows off his trucks, buses, farm tractors, and construction machines customized with lights. Included is a list of models and detail sets used in the feature, including Herpa’s Diorama Ready set.
c. BMW, Audi & Co.. Modeler Thomas Rutzenhöfer and his customized sportscars.
d. Werkstattpraxis: Inneneinrichtung (Workshop practice: Interiors). Very interesting feature about interior decoration and the semi truck.
e. Oldie but Goldie. Bernd Blumenthal from Siegburg shows off his super model collection.
DIORAMAi. Perfekter Abschluss (Perfect Ending). Peter Schmäring demonstrates using photographs as backdrops for model dioramas.
ii. Strassenbau In HO (Road construction in HO ) Daniel Thomas’s excellent diorama of road construction in the hills.
