Hey guys,

I had a quick question.

I have a couple kits I'm planning on building, and in the engine bay, they have a metallic looking insulation. I've seen in in the engine compartment of the Audi R10 TDI and the Ferrari FXX.

What is a good way to simulate this? I feel like just painting metallic silver paint doesn't look right.

Thanks!

Bare metal foil could do the job I think. Comes in matt aluminium as well as chrome.

Jasper is correct.

Bare metal foil or BMF would look good. However, I'd get some practice in using it on other kits if this is your first time using it. Engines can be a bit tricky with the BMF. There are a few videos out on Youtube on how to apply it.

HTH.

See ya in the funnies...........

I used the foil paper from cigarette packaging for a similar effect.

Hope this helps.
