Greeting and salutations to my car modeling brethren. Since I can’t remember if I’ve ever been here or not I ‘ll tell you… a car modeler I am not. At least since I was 12 or 13 and reading Cartoons magazine. I have built 1 or 2 and now I am starting to get the itch for another. So… questions.

Can someone please give me starting points for good kits of top fuel dragsters… old school with the engine front, or with it in the back. And NASCAR. Sponsorship not too much of a concern.

Only one really worth showing is a Louts 25 since “Grand Prix” has always been a fav movie.

Hi Marc,
I am not a car guy either but I do like to follow the builds here. If I were to build one it would be an F1 car so to see your Lotus 25 is great and it looks fantastic.

cheers

Welcome back to the Shiny Side! That Lotus does look awesome.

As for top fuel dragsters, AMT/Round2 has reissued a couple in the last few months. I have not built any of them, but if you are an armor modeler, you will probably be disappointed with the level of detail. Those are the only ones that I know of. I believe that Round2 & Revell might have reissued some NASCAR kits. Your best bet would be to check with Jack at ModelRoundup.com. Good luck with your search.

Round2 also has MPC which does dragsters and give Revell a look. And of course check eBay, lots of kits turn up there.

Nice Lotus BTW.

I agree, with James. Modelroundup is the place to go. They have a fair amount of Top fuel dragsters, from Revell, AMT and MPC. Lots of Nascar models from Monogram.
You can find aftermarket parts, at Modelroundup, as well.
Detailmaster as well have quite a lot of aftermarket parts. Not an abundance of PE and resin as for armor models though.
Looking forward to seeing your build.
