Beautiful build Gabriel, very well done getting it finished so nicely in the time frame you have. Looking that the quarter-shots, the wheel alignment issue was not really visible, but once you look at the side shots it is very obvious. It is a good thing that the correction as relatively easy.
Please don't forget to put a couple of images in the Group Build Gallery .
An unusual pairing of WIP on your bench right now as well, I look forward to seeing how these 2 builds come out.
Cheers, D

Gabriel,
You sure do cover a lot of modeling territory.
I will miss your builds and of course you while you're summer long vacation.
Joel
Thanks, Joel!
Yes, the Fokker is a "leftover" from a campaign I never finished and the truck is a build review on request - that is the reason I never published progress pictures - the owner has the intellectual property over the WIP and don't want to be disclosed until the review is ready and published.
I'll be missing from my bench, but I'll be stalking you, no worries. They have better internet in Romania than in Caribbean
Damian, yes, the rear wheel alignment was a bugger and threw some raw dissappointment into my face
Fortunately the fix was easy and just a bad occurence made me miss the fault until after photo shooting. However, I re-did the 360 video and a few pics.
The Fokker has its own build blog on Aeroscale and the truck is going to be published as an YT "how to" build review for intermediate beginner.
Yes, I will compress and upload a few pics into the gallery, thank you for reminding me!
Cheers!
Gabriel

,
some very nice builds going on/completed.
Hit a bit of a snag with my intended scratch build Porsche Diesel , a friend just pointed out that Revell has a Porsche Junior 108 @ 24th scale kit https://www.revell.de/en/products/easy-click-system/porsche-junior-108-easy-click.html?listtype=search&searchparam=porsche. Looks fairly 'basic' and in need of some detailing/refinement though.
So the dilemma is now do I get the gas-axe and grinder out to try and open the wallet, or choose another victim.
Have just been looking at some custom Choro-Q builds http://feng66510.pixnet.net/album/set/15949134
they look like fairly quick and fun relief from counting nuts and bolts .

Now that my 51 Bel Air is off the bench, it's time to do some final assembly on the 911 Slant Nose. Not much to show yet, just fitted the windscreen and side glass in place and now leave it overnight to cure.
Anybody else still moving on their builds here? There are only 2 completed builds in the gallery at this stage, I'm sure we can drop a few more in.
Cheers, D

D,
Looking forward to your completion of 911 Slant Nose.
As for just 2 completed models in the campaign gallery, I believe that Gabriel just forgot to post the pictures of his custom painted 911 with CF accessories before he left on his really long European vacation. I'm pretty sure that his return date is Sept/Oct, so it's past the completion date for the GB. Is there any way that you can add two pictures of his finished Porsche in the gallery with his name? I can only post there under my account.

I will make sure Gabriel gets his ribbon, he did a huge amount of work to get his build finished before he left on holiday, especially considering the commission build he also finished, the gold/CF Beetle, and the mishap with the molten Porsche. He deserves a medal for perseverance along with the ribbon for this Group Build!

I've finished my 911 Slant Nose, enjoyed this build a lot!
My second completed build for 2019, 2 more than I've finished for the last 5 years!
I've put a couple of images in the gallery, now back to my Bowties
Cheers, D

D,
Thanks so much. I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
That's one mighty impressive Porsche Cabriolet. Very well done my friend. And I'm equally impressed that you've crossed your finish line not once but twice so far this year.

Great Porsche Damian. I like the fact you can show off the interior and engine, both of which were really well done.

all,
have just received my starting "kit" .
I'd forgotten how small these things are .
Guess it's time to break out the putty and create a body for the chassis. Just comparing the chassis dimensions with my proposed body it may be a case of deleting the pull back mechanism - we'll see. Should be an interesting little project for me as I've never really done any sculpting and/or panel scribing before.
I'll just need to apply the 7 P's before I start.
Hope everyone's panel and paint projects are progressing as planned .

Cool concept Roger, like the little Mad Max version you posted in the Ford thread. Looking forward to progress here.

As small as a #11 blade. Glad that you're doing the scratch building as it's going to take a pair of exceptionally good eyes, and that's surely not my eyes.

Restarting with this:
The decals of 911 GT1 disintegrated when I tried to apply them. I think I've seen similar hard and brittle decals with some other 1990s Tamiyas. Not really a problem with planes, but cars are different matter with compound curves.
The 962C has decals by Cartograph, and hopefully they work better.

Pasi,
I'll be following your build for sure. I love 962Cs no matter what tail configuration you're building.
The Tamiya curbside kits are a better kit/value then the Hasegawa kits from the few I've seen to date.
As for the kit decals, I've yet to have any issues with Cartograf decals.

Heads-up time folks, 3 months to go in this Group Build, we have 3 completed builds in the Gallery and another posted here in the thread.
I know we have several works in progress as well, can we get a progress report on any or all of these?
Looking forward to at least a couple more crossing the finish line before time is called.
Cheers, D

D,
Great idea to help get everyone focused on their builds so that they finish on time and receive the campaign ribbon.
I'm also looking forward to seeing their work to date.

D,
Welcome to the Porsche GB.
While I'm no Porsche expert by any stretch of the imagination, I've seen enough Porsche 911 6 cyl. engines to be 100% quite sure that not a single part was chromed. The Block, Heads, intake manifold etc., were all cast Alloy, and nothing was painted but left in the raw state from the factory.
As your plan states, I concur to strip all that heavy handed chrome plate off, glue up the block and parts as need be, then Air brush with the Metallizer of your choice. The color should be Regular old Aluminum with a good black wash after sealing.
Joel
I will agree with you in regards to air cooled 911's (have had several). No chrome, no paint. Those coatings would have caused potential overheating.
Materials were aluminum and magnesium (transmissions), and oxidized within 24 hrs of casting. Low gloss aluminum/grey mixture would work best, with ultra light washes of grey/black.

Exactly. Even the tubing used for the exhaust headers could have been a different alloy then we're accustomed to.

Still looking for missing parts for the engine so this one will be closed up!
Some touch up to do.
Going to go with a chocolate brown body paint.

Cheers, D
Thanks Joel and Damian for taking care of my unfinished business.
For what I understood, the gallery upload isn't mandatory anymore?

Gabriel,
You're quite welcome.
As far as I know, officially two finished pictures are still generally required in the campaign gallery to qualify for a ribbon. D and I just thought that it makes more sense to post the finished pictures in the main campaign thread so everyone can see them including non-enlistees. After all, how many enlistees ever periodically check the gallery for finished pictures? So we changed the rule for the Ford campaign.

It makes perfect sense to me! I think it was the proposal that at the end of the campaign, the morerator / curator of the campaign to make a feature. That it will be great indeed!
