Hi everyone

Time for a bit of fun! My birthday's coming up soon and I want to treat myself to a new kit (obviously! LOL!), so it's the perfect opportunity to tie it in with our reviews.

After years of sample-driven reviewing on Aeroscale, it's really refreshing to have a totally clear field here on AutoModeler and just pick whatever I like!

But, I'm going to let you all have the final say over what I tackle next - admittedly with a choice of two.

Both caught my eye on Model Hobbies - and neither of them seem to have had much coverage according to Scalemates:

Hasegawa 1/24 Jaguar XJR-9LM Le Mans 24 Hour Winner 1988

Hasegawa 1/24 Hasegawa 1/24 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV "Chassis No.4846 Full Restoration"

So... the Jaguar full-on racer, or the classically stylish Lamborghini? - YOUR choice...

All the best

Happy birthday, Rowan!

Okay, I'm not much on modern cars but I like this concept and the two choices. So put me down for Jaguar !

I love the classics, never been much into racers. Lambo for my vote, but if it's tied at the end of proceedings, best you get both

Happy Birthday, Rowan!

I'm digging deep into the vague memories, but March 17 (St Patrick's Day) is ringing a bell.

Hi Damian

Wow! You've got a good memory for dates! It is indeed on March 17th.

So, still plenty of time to let some more votes come in, but the Lamborghini's narrowly in the lead at the moment.

All the best

Well happy birthday for the not to distant future Rowan.

Well I have the Jag in the stash and I have the standard version of the Miura also but as it’s the standard version I’ll go with the Miura.

Vote for Lambo.

I'd also like to see the Miura. I count it (along with the new Ford GT) as one of the prettiest automobiles ever built.

Rowan,
Happy PRE-Birthday.

Of course it will come as no surprise to you that I'm casting my vote for the jag. I loved the car and the paint job when it 1st ran, and it's still a super looking car.

The kit is basically a curbside, so you've got the interior to do, and prep the body for painting and decaling.

Joel

Hi Damian

I take it all back - that's not a great memory for dates, so much as a healthy survival instinct!

@ Joel - actually, you do surprise me. I rather thought you'd go for '60s/'70s style over '80s muscle. Plus, the Miura was the fastest production car on the road in its day.

@ Lee - I can't disagree with you there; the Miura is just gorgeous!

I found an Internet listing for one which sold at auction for $2,255,000! That might seem a lot of money - but it did come complete with a tool roll and a jack...

Anyway, the Lamborghini is extending its lead - currently 7 to 4 against the Jaguar.

All the best

True, my self-protection mechanism kicks in quite regularly on that front

They would want to be gold-plated titanium, diamond encrusted handles, including 2 good people to use them

Hi again

So, the Lamborghini currently leads 7 to 5. I'll let the thread run overnight but, barring a late flurry of votes for the Jaguar, we'll be going for some Italian style in the next review.

Don't worry, though, whichever is in the lead in the morning, the clear interest in these two kits has ensured the runner-up will be my follow-up review.

If it's a tie and I have to cast a deciding vote... I'll play fair and toss a coin for it!

All the best

Hi Damian,

I'm afraid that's not on the cards for a while yet - with a book to write and too many wingy-things still demanding attention, the rather neglected MGB is all I can hope to potter on with at the moment.

But I can still slip in a few in-box reviews now and again to help keep the wheels turning.

All the best

Hi again

Well, the Jaguar fans failed to reel in their friends, so the Miura won the day!

I've got to admit I wasn't disappointed! I'd have hated to have flipped a coin and seen it land in favour of the Jaguar!

Why? - because, as much as I love to "fly the flag" occasionally, the Miura is just so iconic and simply goddamn effing gorgeous, it'd almost be a crime if it didn't win!

All being well, the kit should arrive tomorrow.

All the best

Rowan
