I’m thinking with all of the recent releases and interest the next Group Build might need to be all about racing! Drag strip, circuit, road or rally, any combination on body and power plant. I would definitely be in with a 427 Cobra in racing livery for that!

Cheers, D

D,
I'll sign up right now.

And I have a 2006 Ford GT for that build, too! Although I actually think it's a street car masquerading as a race car.

I had to dig through some boxes, but I was sure I had one stashed away!

D,
If anyone had one in their stash it just had to be you.

I was thinking that at some time we're going to have to do a Louis Chevrolet GB. Just wondering how the response would be to it compared to the Henry Ford GB, and to what the Ford Racing GB will eventually be?

Back to the task at hand, and some more inspiration.

Interesting opinion piece here - Best 7 Ford muscle cars that aren't Mustangs

Some classic cruisers in the 50's Fords Photo Gallery

And the iconic Mustang From Greatness to Gutless - and back

Such a rich harvest for us in this theme, I can see the "Blue Oval" becoming a series of Group Builds over the coming years.

Heck, In addition to Louis Chevrolet, we could do a "Dodge Brothers Build", and "Ransom E. Olds Build", or any other of the Founding Fathers of the Automotive Industry.

Jim,
That's certainly food for thought. Or maybe once past Louis Chevrolet, we just might have to combine some of the founders.

Browsing, searching for reference images for my 36 5-Window, enjoying a coffee, plenty of inspiration here!

D,
That's certainly inspiration with a capital "I". One car is more impressive then the next. And all have incredible paint jobs.

1950 vs 2015. You can barely see the difference between the 2 designs after 65 years

I found a great website covering the CLASSIC FORDS from 1946 to 1965 as well.

Yes Richard, you have my sympathies, slim pickings there and a trip to the LHS is definitely in order! I would suggest that you look for something along the Mustang line, it seems to be a part of the Ford range that you haven't quite considered yet.

Richard,
That's mighty interesting collection you've got there. One that caught my eye was the 1/32 Airfix 3 liter Ford GT.

The car is the Ford P68 from 1969 that was a utter failure, never finished a race, and Ford nixed that program right after the season, and was out of endurance racing. Sure is easy to see where to Ford designers borrowed the "look" of the car from. The Ferrari 330 P4 series.

Thanks James and Damian you are correct my Mustang selection is in need of bulking up!

Joel thanks for Ford GT information, the red was a poor choice by Ford!

Very nice, the 60’s models are definitely my favourite of the Mustang lineage!

Richard: When I saw your vast collection, of Fords, my first thought(almost) was "There's no 66 Mustang" well now you have that one too. No '70 though

I am keeping an eye out for a 70!
I might do a dual build of the 73 which I have two of, one stock and the other race.

Rich,
I'd love to see you build a '70 notch back, as I owned one for 10 years. Loved that car.

Hi Joel
I will start a 73 double build to fill in time before the group build starts.

Great idea, a dual-build is always an entertaining and interesting build log to follow.

Have you decided on a kit for the Group Build yet?

Great photos Mike, I love all the colours and textures in that rusty goodness!

I just remembered a thread I started almost 10 years ago, images of some cars on display at our local town fair. Very relevant here.
