The cab windows came out perfect. I've been using Extra Thin to carefully glue my clear parts, but that Testors clear plastic glue looks like it does the job perfectly.

What happens if you do get some of it on the glass? Is it removable or just vanishes?

Hi Joel. I’d dries clear but distorts the vision through the clear part. It is a water based white glue and very easy to clean off with. Q- tip dipped in warm water.

Thanks for that information. I have a sticky white Arts & Craft glue that works but no always as I wanted it to. I had concerns that the glass would eventually pop out. Most of the time it's easy to replace, but there are times when the glass is in the interior and no longer accessible once the body is glued in place. Tough call. Just might stick with the Extra Thin for now. I've got more then enough issues to deal with my latest build.

Don't ya just love the idea that on period trucks you had to open the passenger door and lift up the bench seat bottom cushion to gas the truck!

Agreed, not the most convenient of filler locations! I've been looking for a technical drawing of the fuel system to see if I can run some fuel lines, I don't suppose you would have something in your library Michael?

No sorry, regarding info on the fuel system, I got nothing.

I just freelanced the fuel connections on the Blitz bus as shown above.

Installing a few more items, the fuel tank, dashboard assembly, steering column and steering wheel.



Test dry fit of the cabin floor assembly to make sure things line up ok.



After dry fitting the two halves of the cab it was clear that there was no point in putting any more work into the seat, it is just too dark and unless you put an arthroscope camera in there no fine detailing is visible. The next step was to carefully clean off the paint where the two halves meet, which I did with an Excel knife, then slowly work my way around the glue joint lines with Tamiya Extra Thin so that none of the paint was damaged.




Once that was cured, time to test dry fit onto the chassis for a progress report!




Next steps are to build the forward drive shaft, and do some detailing on the engine (ignition wiring, fuel lines etc.).

I have ordered some Evergreen sheets in various thicknesses to use for the wedge tray, and I have a cunning plan to make some diamond plate for the ramps.

Wish Evergreen would get into the diamond and tread plate business. They do all those assorted siding sheets for the structure modelers. It seems like a embossed pattern applied with a hot roller over the sheet would be an easy thing!

Such a common item in 1:1 scale, you would think it would be a great seller for them.

I just did a quick search and found a company called JTT does single and double diamond plate sheets in 1/22 and 1/24 respectively, close enough for what I need, so I have ordered some to see how it looks.

You've certainly upped your game with this conversion/scratch build. the fitted cab just looks sensational.

As for the Diamond Tread Plate in 1/24 scale, Detail Masters does have it.

The truck build is progressing very nice, D!
Good job with the windows and with the interior. I use for gluing the transparencies Micro Klear, which is thick enough to cover the eventual gaps as well. Being water based, I clean right after application the joints and the window surfaces if contaminated.

The chassis looks great and I have to agree with you regarding the front bench. He upright position of the bench and the tall cabin make the bench nearly invisible from a normal viewing angle.

I'm contemplating colors, for Monogram's 1931 Rolls Royce Phantom 2. I've seen a picture, of a 1/1 RR, with a color combo very similar to the one on your Opel. Looks amazing.

Certainly very fine work and too see the reflection of the louvers in the mudguards is really nice!

My build is on the back burner with several Group Build projects under way, but I am working on a prototype template for the rear tray using Manilla Folder card stock to see how it will fit and look.

As a VERY late comer to your build, I am really enjoying it. I can never be as good as you are, so that makes this a true teaching moment from you to me. I am looking forward to seeing the further build and final product.

We are all constantly learning here, just try some new techniques and products with each build and don't be afraid to make mistakes or ask lots of questions. We all do, and they can present the best learning opportunities.

I just had to share a couple of images of a build that one of my local Aussie mates just completed. He took a resin Chevy COE cab, a 3D printed 6cyl Cummins Diesel engine, an AMT 1950 Chevy Pickup, and the rest is scratchbuilt history!
