With Honda beginning to challenge Mercedes at last in F1 (albeit in a Red Bull chassis) here''s a look at Tamiya''s 1:20 kit of the company''s RA272 from 1965 - the first ever Japanese car to win a Formula One grand prix.

Rowan,
As usual another excellent, well thoughtout, and detailed review. As you concluded for a kit originally molded in 1996, Tamiya was way ahead of it's time.

As for your surprise that Tamiya didn't supply those clear fuel lines, I've yet to buy a 1/20 scale F1 car from a number of manufactures that supply them. I've bought them from Asia and spent a fortune on them. Only to discover that you can get several different sizes of both hollow and solid clear plastic line from any Freshwater fishing shop. That's where I buy all of mine fuel injection lines now.

I'm curious as to Tamiya's color call out for the white body as it's more of a cream/egg shell color. So I'm assuming it's a mix.

So when are you going to actually build this beauty?

Excellent review Rowan, it's a really neat looking little car and looks to be a fun build.

Cheers, D
