Hello gents,

Hopefully you're all staying well out there. This guy is quarantined. It's been about a week and a half now, and in addition to doing household odds and ends, calling family and friends, and building models, I've been going out for walks a couple times a day - which has been great - just to move around and get some fresh air.

Following my self imposed rule, I went out a while ago - had a good walk, not bad at all - once again, the slow server is getting this guy - so, I'll keep waiting....and now, some pics

A nice day, and as I kept walking, I found this beast:

Wow, neat bike. It says Ural, has a sidecar, jerry cans, and a winch! BTW - the super clean Econoline van in the background is a 4X4! A couple of interesting finds indeed. Back to the bike:

I didn't know there was a Ural bike? I've built model Ural trucks, but have never seen one of them in real life. Any of you know about this bike? Let us know!

And after, back to the walk:

And now, back to model building -

Stay healthy - cheers

Nick

Nick,
Now that's one impressive bike and side car for sure.

Gotta tell you that I'm struggling with this stay home for who only knows how long. All I know is that the virus started in Oregon, and a few weeks later NY is the center point of the epicenter. What's more, it's NYC which is hardest hit. The 3 counties north of the city, Staten Island, The Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens (which are part of LI), plus the two counties on the Island are the only counties that have the virus according to the charts. Naturally, I live in one of those counties. Everyday it just gets worse, with no end in sight. I'm too old for this crap, way to old.

Thant's a great looking bike Nick, not one I'm familiar with either. Really good to see you getting out in the fresh air, looks like some fine weather for it there!

Likewise, I got out and about over the weekend and found some photo-worthy Automodeler subject matter - TD2000

Stay safe and well.

Cheers, D

These bikes are pretty bulletproof. Initially reversely engineered from WW2 BMW R75, then developed and updated until today. The Ural is the export name - the ex-Communist Block knows it under IJ name. I had once upon a time an IJ III - a slimmer version, without sidecar. Very simple mechanically but poorly made (the export version is much better as materials quality).

I have seen one in person at the Harley shop my son uses. The sidecar wheel is power by a link to the main rear wheel.
