The Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917
in Zonnebeke, Belgium was renovated and re-opened in 2004. As well as containing many artefacts such as uniforms and equipment, there are also the new and very impressive "experience" sections showing underground dug outs and trenches. It's housed in a beautiful historic chateau in the small town of Zonnebeke, very close to Ieper (Ypres), the site of the memorial the Menin Gate (above). Below is a small sample of some of the exhibits, photographed on a brief visit in August 2014.
