Meng Models has released two kits of the AUDI R8 LMS GT3 Evo II in 1/34th scale; the only difference is the finish option.

Review

These 2 offerings from Meng arrive in cardboard trays with separate card lid. The sprues are individually wrapped in plastic, they fill the box well. The contents of both kit offerings are the same, with only the finish being different and that is the reason I am covering both kits together. Looking over the sprues I see no issues as you have good access for removal of parts, very small gates between the sprue and parts which I am also pleased to say are few in number.

These 2 model kits both think they are Porches as the engines are in the rear, and the vehicles are rear wheel drive. The engine detail and the gearbox is visually pleasing are regards what can be seen, but no wiring or pipes are present but in modern vehicles of this type they are most often hidden or tucked very close to parts of the engine. So to take it further you will need to do some online research to wire these elements. The rear axle and drive are surprising in that there is no rear chassis part - you instead have 2 rear wishbones which go to the top and bottom of the mount through which the drive shaft goes though the centre of to the wheel. Brake callipers and discs are nicely detailed and the wheels remain being able to rotate due to a spigot that goes through the centre of the wheel mount to a poly cap hidden inside.  Moving to the front of the vehicle for the moment, the steering geometry can be altered at will as it remains workable. Something that may not please everyone is that the low profile tyres are provided in vinyl rubber.

Moving to the interior of the vehicle, you have seating for one individual, who is protected by a complex roll cage. I may be wrong, but the cage also appears to be part of the vehicle structure. The cab itself can be assembled as a lone item, prior to addition to the model which will help to make detailed painting and finishing easier. Some aspects that I particularly like is that the harness is provided in a cloth like material in addition to photo etch metal detail where required for a realistic look. Moving to the race steering wheel and control console which is angled towards the driver, there is a cluster of various push and twist dials present. These have been supplied  by Meng as decals. The decals provided for this purpose appear to replicate the detail accurately, and are perfect for the instrument cluster but I am unsure if the steering wheel centre is correct as it is not a perfect match for the online offering I have found. With that said, everything else appears to look good including the fuel tank which is shaped around the engine and sat just to the rear of the driver - which I have to say is a little scary.

The floor of the model is a single piece moulding for the most part, and it is this that everything comes together on. The engine and interior are added as a sub-assembly and once you have everything in place on that complicated roll cage and wheel arches go in. The shell of the models are again more or less a single part to which you add some air splitters, the clear parts and lights. I did a rough guesstimate and I believe that the body shell can be painted prior to the clear parts and light lenses being added. However, Meng has also considered this and provided a set of paint masks depending on how you wish to tackle the task. The doors of the vehicles have both an interior and exterior part, with all the door fitting provided separately.

The finishing option provided for the 2 releases are:

For a vehicle with B-Quik Absolute Racing

The second offering is another with Absolute Racing, but this time sponsored by Meng as opposed to B-Quik.

The decals are of a good quality, but there is a lot of them, and adding them all will require a steady hand and eye that going on to a gloss finish. Once on the model, a sealing coat of varnish should give you a stunning result, regardless of which option has caught your eye. It is also finally worth mentioning, that bothy models are licensed by Absolute Racing and there is holographic detail on the box lid to this affect.
