This is a short version of my build log entered onto Modelmaker forum. I was asked to upload here some text and pics, and it is my honor to show you how much fun it is to introduce a young boy into this hobby. And it is a buildlog - review of Revell's 1/24 scale Lightning McQueen easy-click kit.

A shortened version of a build forum entry

I had a beautiful time spent with my 5yrs old grandson "Little" Patrick jr.,  building Revell's 1/24 LIghtning McQueen kit which he got onto his name-day (celebrated in Hungary). Lil'P asked me to have a scale model and it was my best pleasure to introduce him into my hobby. I opted a full OOB build, excluding any painting steps because Lil'P has limited patience (normal from such a young boy) and I wanted him to fully participate in the build.

The kit itself is an Easy-Click-System version, however glue is needed to secure several parts (eg the suspension and the engine) and to my best surprise Revell provides two sets of decals: a normal water slide version (saved this time for a future build) and an easy peel-off version (used now).

Lil"P collected four major skills: learnt to use the sprue-cutter, Tamiya extra thin cement, follow and mark the steps in the booklet (nicely made by Revell btw) and peeling off all decals.

I also opted out the weathering as Lil'P will surely do it in his bedroom. The final result is a pretty nice model, I highly recommend for any dad / grandpa to spend some real great time with the new generation.

This is a default skill for my 5yrs old: he is fond of peeling off any decal.

The result looks impressive in 1/24 scale. Weathering opted out for later use by his owner :-)
